Black Magic
The Reality of Magic
Black Magic (Sihr) and the Evil Eye are real and have existed throughout history. Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم) experienced black magic and was under its influence until Allah (SWT) revealed the truth to him. Surah An-Nas and Surah Al-Falaq were revealed to counter this black magic. This is not a myth; it is a fact.
The Quran is not only a guide for distinguishing right from wrong but also a source of healing. Allah (SWT) created everything through His powerful words. As stated in the Quran, His command is simple: He says "Be," and it happens (36:82). The power of Allah’s words is immense, as illustrated by the story of Prophet Sulaiman and Queen Sheba, and is highlighted in the verse that describes the Quran's profound impact (59:21).
Ruqyah involves reciting specific verses from the Quran in a set order to heal various physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual ailments.
Definition of Magic
Magic is a reality confirmed by the Quran and Hadith. It affects people only by Allah’s will. Scholars agree that Surah Al-Falaq was revealed due to a magic spell placed on Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم). Magic is a skillful practice involving rituals and the worship of evil beings. Learning or practicing magic is forbidden (kufr) because it involves invoking Shaytan (devils) and using forbidden methods.
Black Magic involves spells or rituals that affect a person’s heart, body, or mind without direct contact. It can cause illness, relationship problems, and even death. Witchcraft and sorcery also involve manipulating jinn (supernatural beings) to inflict harm.
Black Magicians use negative energy and summon evil spirits to cause problems in people's lives, such as health issues, family tensions, or financial troubles. They often do this out of jealousy, greed, or malice.
Consequences and Punishments:
Magic is a grave sin in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم) stated that magicians should be punished by death. Umar (RA) ordered the execution of magicians during his time.
Magic is condemned in Islam, and those who practice or seek it are considered outside the fold of Islam.
The Quran says:
“They followed what the devils recited during the reign of Solomon... But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, ‘We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practising magic].’” [Surah 2, Verse 102]
Repentance and Forgiveness:
Allah offers forgiveness and paradise to those who repent and avoid evil practices. Those engaged in magic or its services should turn to Allah for forgiveness before it is too late.
Reflection
Imagine the whole world filled with mustard seeds and a bird collects one grain every thousand years. Even if this process continues, the torment of Hellfire will never end. Reflect on this and choose the path of righteousness.
May Allah guide us all and keep us safe from harm. Ameen.
Hadiths to Remember:
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are to make a believer happy, remove his grief, repay his debt, or satisfy his hunger.” (Sunan al-Bayhaqi)
“Allah will help His servant as long as the servant helps his brother.” (Sahih Muslim)
“Whoever among you wakes up secure, healthy, and with food for the day, it is as if he has been given the entire world.” (Tirmidhi)
